Social Media.. It's not what it appears

We’ve all seen them, those fitness influencers all over Instagram and TikTok showing off their great bodies and trying to sell you on their workout/diet plans.

The issue with these sorts of posts and videos is there’s generally no context, and more likely editing and posing to make themselves look the best they can (obviously, got to sell your product).

When I talk about context what I mean is…

- How long they have been training for..

- How long did it take them to get this physique..

- How often do they train..

- How long do they train per session on average..

- What is their food intake like (metabolism and genetics play a hefty role in what your body looks like)..

I understand that these people post like this because most of the time it’s their job, but the issues are that young easily influenced people see these and think if they do this one thing, they can look like this. Or even more upsetting that there is something wrong with them because they don’t look like this (even if they have been working their butt off and eating like a saint), which can lead to or exasperate body dysmorphia.

I know all this is true, I’ve felt it. But you can’t base your success on someone else’s journey. Your journey is not going to be the same as the person next to you, this is why blanket training or eating programs don’t always work.

Stay patient and trust your journey.
